Academy Award® winner for Best Picture in 2001, A BEAUTIFUL MIND is the riveting and moving story of John Nash, a Nobel Laureate in Economics. The film follows Nash’s story from his early prodigy days at Princeton University through his early breakthroughs and charts his life-long struggle with paranoid schizophrenia. Inspired by a bestselling book by Sylvia Nasar, A BEAUTIFUL MIND stars Russell Crowe (Academy Award nominee, Best Actor), Ed Harris, and Jennifer Connelly (Academy Award Winner, Best Supporting Actress), and netted director Ron Howard his first Oscar for Best Director.

About the Director

Ron Howard (born March 1, 1954) is an American film director, producer and former child actor. He came to prominence playing Opie Taylor in the sitcom THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW for eight years, and later the teenaged Richie Cunningham in the sitcom HAPPY DAYSs for six years. He appeared in the films THE MUSIC MAN (62), AMERICAN GRAFFITI (73), and THE SHOOTIST (76). Howard made his directorial debut with the 1977 comedy GRAND THEFT AUTO, and his subsequent films include the Academy Award-winning COCOON, APOLLO 13, HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS, and A BEAUTIFUL MIND. In 2003, he was awarded the National Medal of Arts.
